Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Shocked - we have a DX well the start of one!

Hi All

Have posted occasionally on the special needs board for help and reassurance with DD.

Wanted to share my news with you all, after 5 months, a CT scan, an MRI scan and a lumber puncture, with a good half a dosen doctors thrown in we have finally made a step towards a diagnosis!

DD's neuro phoned us last week following her MRI scan the week before. From the scan they can see a bleed in the back of her brain (cerebelam) that has caused scaring to the area around the brain. She is going back to the Evalina in the next week for more scans to try to work out if the bleed was an isolated bleed or something that may happen again. They also hope to look at the areas effected in more detail and try to work out when the bleed happened, altho they suspect it was before birth.

So altho no full diagnosis, DD's developmental delays and tremmors are now on there way to being explained.

The wierd thing is I feel releived although very shocked that they can now tell me why she is like how she is. I think I was starting to think it was all in my head! And although we will still not know what the future holds for DD in the way of how her physical development will be effected, I feel I can start to deal with getting on with our lives a bit more!

Quick question for you all, I have sent of forms for DLA for DD, and am still waiting for the outcome, do I need to contact them to let them know the most recent results?

Can't help with DLA question, but good news that you are finally getting some answers. It is hard watching and waiting (me too ) but knowing why must be a massive relief for you.

Yes, relief, yet shock. Really hope the scans give you some clear ideas what they can do to help, too.

I would contact the DLA people to ask, yes, though I've no direct experience of it myself.
