The special needs nursery that DD went to did one when she left to give to the new school nursery. It included photos of DD doing activities, using equipment and general likes and dislikes. It was brilliant, I then updated it afew years later when she went to P1. And will update it again when things change for new staff that look after her. What do you need one for?

its for dd4, shes got developmental delays,(being tested as to why, no info yet)

What I mean't was is she going somewhere new that needs to know more information about her, sorry if you thought I was questioning you.

idont think shes going anywhere ,??? she does go to nursery ??it was the pre school community team keyworker that suggested one for dd4 .i ment dd4 is being tested as to why she has developmental delays, and that we dont have all the results yet.just wanted to know if the passport would be woth the effort?SN is new territory for us and i dont really have anyone in a similer situation that i can ask for advice on these matters.

I did one for DD2 - the SALT called it a communication passport, I called it a document about her that I named "All About Me".

I found it really good to do and as she transitioned from group to preschool then to school all the staff said how useful they found it too.

Worth the effort I think. And once it's done it doesn't take long to update as needed.

saw these in action in a school i worked in. they were excellent as a quick guide to new staff re. the child's preferences, strengths, interests, targets, etc.

Cerebra can help you prepare one.

Mitchell81 · 10/11/2008 22:50

That is a brilliant link, thanks TClanger.

I am updating DD's and can't find the original on our computer so will be able to do it all again using that template. I want one to give to whoever we get with our direct payments.
