Another Maclaren Major question - raincovers this time.

I've just bought a Major raincover from the company which has been mentioned on here before, see this page.

Does anyone else have one who could offer some advice, please? I'm finding the catches so stiff I can't fit it to the Major and fear once on, I'd never be able to remove it. I'd read on here that it could remain on when folded but the instruction leaflet says otherwise. Bought it thinking it would be easier to use ......not so far!

i got rid of my sun canopy and raincover after 'using' them twice. does that answer your question?
poncho with a baseball cap, or get dc to hold umbrella if they are able...
i have met one person who liked them though...

out of about forty, that can't be bad, can it? it is a wonder to me that wcs don't supply them - they normally do a nice line in overpriced useless rubbish.

i do like the major, btw, just not the accs.

I like our major....but swear alot and end up throwing the capoy across the street often!!!

Thanks Romy7 & lourobert, good to know I'm not alone on this - yes I like the Major too but find this lack of decent raincover a real problem. What a pantomime having to use the canopy plus raincover.
I'd read about the one above on my link & ordered it, thinking it would be the answer but it's so stiff to clip on it's not practical.
Don't know the answer. Sadly DD can't manage a brolly & I find by the time I've taken the Major out of the boot, got it up & ready then transferred DD from the car, we're all wet.

I've got that raincover. It is incredibly difficult to get on and off without many curses and broken nails, but you can fold the buggy with it on. Also mine is slightly easier to remove now it's been done a few times. I've had it a few years and have just tended to leave it on all winter.

Pixel · 03/11/2008 17:13

Btw, I asked the company before I ordered it if I could fold the buggy with the raincover attached and they said yes. Whatever it says on the instructions I've never had a problem with it except it takes up slightly more room in the boot of the car. It hasn't damaged the buggy either, it is still in really good condition.
Try putting the square clip things on at an angle and then easing them over. They will go but mind your fingers!

Pixel, thank you, that's good to hear about the folding. I'll have another go on that basis.

May I ask two questions, please ........

When you say you can still fold the buggy, do you mean enough to be able to clip it together properly with the securing catch?

Where on the side frame have you attached the raincover clips - high up nearer the handles or lower down?

Off to cut my nails before I try!

carry a tub of vaseline....?! just one more thing to add to your endless things your already carrying ; )

Pixel · 03/11/2008 21:20

It almost clips together. It probably would but I haven't forced it. I haven't needed to because the buggy has to live in the boot of the car as I've nowhere indoors that I can put it without falling over it every five minutes.
The clips are just above the blue plastic thing on the buggy where the different parts join. If I can find a photo I'll try and put it on my profile (for a limited time only ).

Vaseline a good idea, wish I'd thought of that!
Pic on profile of where clip is attached.

Thank you both - pics most helpful. It would be useful to be able to keep it on during spells of bad weather as it lives in the car most of the time.

..... now where's the vaseline?!
