My dd1 is 8 and has (probably) ASD - Aspergers. She seriously seriously (yes I did mean to write that twice ) can not see a mess. At the same time however things get soooo messy that it takes me hours to tidy so I can then clean AND somewhere inside her head she knows its untidy and she starts claiming that she hasn't got enough toys/can't find things and throws herself around etc. We're about to start doing her bedroom up. The things I've come up with so far as being important are... 1)the room needs to be her sanctuary and needs to make her feel safe 2)Calming colour/s - not too much brightness or garishness as this will give her sensory overload 3)thinking of floor to ceiling cupboards where instead of draws she has pull out tubs that she can throw her toys into.
Anymore thoughts - advice
