Title says it all really. DS starts at the school we fought long and hard for tomorrow! Uniform is ironed and im sat reading through the priory bookelt now making sure ive signed all his consent forms! His final statement arrived on Friday and the LEA actually listened and has made sure he has the same taxi driver and escorts!!!!!!
Im nervous for him but he does not seem to be bothered! He has known this will be happening for weeks so i suppose its just routine to him now!!!!!

wooo hooo i KNEW you would do it,well done, DS loves his priory school and has really settled there.

kettlechip · 26/10/2008 19:25

Priory are wonderful, dh used to be fairly senior within the Priory group, and we went to a lot of their management conferences and saw a lot of presentations on the children and the schools, as well as the psychiatric hospitals. The enthusiasm the staff have for making a difference to these children is overwhelming.

Good luck to your ds!!

thanks guys, still expecting the lea to ring i morning to say he cannot go!!
Went to a course run by our outreach team last week and met 12 other parents who have had and are having same problems in my county as i had. A couple of them are also fighting for places at this priory so have offered my help! Also had a call from parent partnership on friday asking some advice about which way to approach a situation!!! PP lady said she had my number on speed dial and asked me to not chuck anything away as she would need to pick my brains in the near future about a new case!

best wishes for tomorrow!

/LGS - how are things going with your boy now?

drowninginlaundry · 27/10/2008 06:19

that's wonderful!! well done you for getting him in!

BONKinthenightERZ · 27/10/2008 08:32

What a nightmare that was! Ds was awake twice last night, said he didnt know why but he didnt want to go to new school, asked him if he felt scared/shy/happy etc and he said no to everything. Then he was up from 6.15 and insisted on getting in his uniform straight away. he refused breakfast and got angry when he had to wait for his morning tv to start (normally has set routine of programmes to get him through morning routine ie power rangers means teeth clean and face wash etc etc) he was all out of sync and not a happy bunny!
Then taxi arrived at 8.20 instead of 8.10 as stated in council letter so DS started panicking about being late and if they would let him into school at all!!!!!!!!
Didnt even get the chance to kiss him goodbye! AGH

Hope the day improves! Poor chap hasn't had a chance to adapt to the clock change yet. Hope all goes well and ds settles happily. Taxi's always seem to be late on Monday mornings!
Fingers crossed for you all!

BONKinthenightERZ · 27/10/2008 09:59

yeah the clock change thing really threw him especially as i forgot to change the clocks downstairs before i went to bed and sunday morning he was up thinking it was half nine and he would be going to his nans and i had to change the clocks to half eight! That did not go down well but DH bless him stuck DS in the car and took the scenic route!!!!!!!

oh dear...i can imagine how panicky he would have been getting. He'll get used to a new routine eventually though won't he.
Ds is still not happy that he is now the first to leave the house for school since he has started secondary. I've timetabled his new morning for him so he knows exactly what to do and when but somehow that leaving before everyone else really upsets him.

BONKinthenightERZ · 27/10/2008 10:16

im sure by the end of the week it will be fine.
He was panicking this morning because he didnt know what to do about lunch! At the PRU i was sending him with pack lunch which to him has certain things in! The priory include all meals but he was set on having a pack lunch, i told himhe could ask cook for a sandwich but he insists packlunch is sausage roll on mon, roll on tues, pasta salad on wed etc and i had to explain that the cook might not be able to do that as she also had 10 other children to cook for!!!!!!
My poor baby, im sure his head was swimming this morning and im now feeling all precious and wondering how bad would it be if i rang in a bit to see how he is????? Have already had the talk with the head at school about how hard its going to be to let go of DS as have spent the last 2 years fighting tooth and nail for him!

He will be ok bonkerz
I'm sure they will be perfectly able to cope with anything he puts their way and they will be working hard to make sure he settles in well.

magso · 28/10/2008 20:21

WELL DONE. It will be tough at first but this is what you have been fighting for. I hope that it is everything you hoped / expected!

jenk1 · 28/10/2008 21:40

DS was like this when he started at his priory last year,he ate sandwiches/bread and butter until half term and then afterwards he ate almost everything they made, and his eating has come on really well, they will have him eating all sorts soon bonkerz.

BONKinthenightERZ · 29/10/2008 23:44

well its going really well so far. Ds is coming home happy and is actually telling me about school and talking about it full of energy which is lovely. the school have rang me to let me know how he is doing and also keep checking with me how is is with different situations as they obviously dont know him well yet and want to make sure they give him everything he needs! It brilliant so far!
