Can anyone answer my questions about the Mclaren Major?

Thinking of getting on for DS4. He rarely uses the old three wheeler now and it fills the boot of the car. I was thinking of getting a Mclaren major for the occasions he does need a pushchair (shopping etc) bad days when he is tired.

He is still only 3 1/2, We need a new buggy now but wonder if the Major will be too big at the moment. Should I leave it another year and persevere with my three wheeler?

Does it fold like an umbrella buggy? Just wondering if it will solve the problem of a boot full of pushcahir which I have at the moment with my P&T.

The major buggy has adjustable straps and the foot plate moves up and down. I think it is suitable from 6 months and up to 12 years. And yes, it folds umbrella style but is fairly long when folded so may not fit in the boot of a small car.

Thanks supportman. The length shouldn't be a problem, we have a multipla which is quite wide so it should fit across the bottom of the boot leaving space for all the other gubbins my kids carry about.

DS4 has just been awarded mobility and a little of it has been a back payment so I thought I'd put the extra cash to good use.

you can have mine, honest Mega

they are pretty mahoosive when folded, and the footplate is separate - would recommend trying one first. you also need to be aware that the sun canopy/ rainhood etc are all separate and have to be purchased separately. they are all a pita to fit
you need to think long term and ask if you will be content to use a buggy when ds4 is at school - if you would prefer to push him in a wc at that point and you think you will still need the capability, then ask wcs to provide a wc now instead of a buggy. it's personal preference, but if he will be using it on school trips etc then a wc may be more suitable.
we put dd2 in a major from 3 and it was fine. she switched to a wc at 5 for school because of the trips etc. e-bay often have second hand majors, so it is poss to have both for reasonably little...

totally agree Romy,am happy to give mine to mehgalegs tho.

MABS - that is very kind.

Romy, thank you for all that info. It's tricky wit DS4 as his walking definitely depends on what sort of day he is having. I think he would be happy in a pushchair for now, he starts school next Sept but won't be 5 until June 2010.

He hates raincovers anyway, they freak him out so we might have to try a cape.

Think anything will be better than lugging my e3 out of the boot everyday.
