how you/your child, brush teeth? DD has very weak upper body muscles and her movements are very jerky. She has had lots of OT, but things aren't going well. Can anyone advise here?

I'd like to see her do this for herself instead of me doing it all the time. I do think it's possible, but not sure if there would be an easier way?

There is a rounded bristle tooth brush called a collis curve which is more efficient with less brushing then a traditional one. Fledglings stock them or you can buy direct off the website.

My daughter has just started using one and I do find a difference. She doesn't have CP but thought this may be useful to you anyway.

we brush dd's teeth but several of my frinds got their kids electric toothbrushes - I use one myself as have MS and hands are weak/

i brush dd's teeth, we have a HSM battery tooth brush9as she hates it) and it works well. she can't do it herself as her arms go too stiff.
you could try hand over hand

Thank you!

An electric toothbrush might be the best option to go with. I'll have a look at the fledgling website too though.

I really hope something will work for her. I worry so much all the time. As I mentioned she's had so much OT (and PT) but I don't see much progress.

def electric brush, but also look at body and trunk support whilst she is carrying out these type of activities. some kids are better brushing their teeth in the bath if they have a supportive bath chair for example, not sure what trunk control is like but certainly here if dd2's trunk is supported thoroughly all the way up, then her arms are less restricted.
fwiw we have had to go back to 'more' support to increase independence, if that makes sense! ie a more supportive chair was required so that she could self feed, whereas if we were feeding her then she could manage with less support. if i am brushing her teeth we can get away with far less support than if she is attempting to do it herself.
