Dd1 had a long standing appt to see her Consultant plastic surgeon who periodically does botox for her wrist/fingers and legs/ankles. (CP) We got there ridiculously early by mistake. Waiting in the waiting area DD's neuro consultant wandered past and had 5 mins general chat and got updated on recent shunt revision. Then a Neuro Reg came by, and had a further chat. Then the Epilepsy Specialist Nurse wandered by and stopped for a catch up. Then we realised the fabbo guy who does the casts for splints was there. Dd didn't have an appointment, but he saw us as he popped out to get clean water for the casts, and asked if we were there to see him, as he wasn't back for 7 weeks. I said no, but that dd's feet had grown a lot in the past few weeks. He said 'I have 25 mins till next child, let's have a look'. He decided the existing splints were too small, and asked if he could cast her feet for new splints there and then to save us waiting for an appointment. BRILLIANT!
Then we saw the Consultant who we were originally due to see, who scooped dd up onto his lap saying 'hello darling' and agreed - with the physio - to do dd's fingers, ankles and hamstrings in the next 4-6 weeks. And as we left (he has a 'ladies' salon' for botox etc etc very near to our house, just down the road from dd's school) he said he knew the school did regular fundraisers, so always call him and ask for a treatment for the raffle - speak to his wife if he is not there!!!!!!
Have I been asleep and dreaming all morning??!! Will I wake up soon???!! It has been amazingly good! God bless the NHS today!!
