DD got picked up by her bus this morning and the driver had pulled off even before she had sat down, let along been strapped in with the seat belt

I know its only our street, but could still have an accident

I thought it was really bad

I am ok saying something arent I? I wont look the a fussy Mum?

No, not being strapped in is not even legal - never mind the SN aspect and duty of care, and - dare I say it - moral obligation for someone in the employ of the LEA/council/whatever to follow health and safety rules and maybe even CARE about our children.

Not fussy at all. I never move the car without everyone strapped in, and these drivers are supposed to be fully trained. Defnintely say something!

just had a thought - you could always have your foot physically on the step, or actually be on the first step just in the doorway until shes been strapped in. That way he cant drive off until shes strapped in, unless he drives with you hanging on flapping in the breeze as he whizzes down the road!

yes i would ask him politely if he wouldnt mind strapping her in safely, as you are 'such a worrier' and you dont need to start the day like that' with a friendly beam. would that work perhaps?

I dont actually take her to the bus

the driver stays in his seat and the escort comes to our door and takes DD to the bus

have been learning about assertiveness before the hols, and this will be, I suppose, a good time to try it!

I will just mention it to the escort in the morning!

Yes, definately report it. I had one (the same one I've mentioned before) do this to me while one foot is on my drive. I had no escort so no one to stop this, and I was too afraid because this driver was awful and would say things to the other boy on the bus and make fun of me.
