Schools: Social Inclusion Dramas
Fri 25 Feb, 11:30 am - 11:50 am 20mins

[Age 5-7] A Fish out of Water: Ten year old Luke desperately wants to take part in a swimming event. But his ADHD (Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder) may get him excluded.

This programme shows a lad who i believe looks more like he had Aspergers than ADHD....but who am i to question!!!?

He takes everything literally, gets teased/excluded in the playground/is distracted in the classroom/cannot apologise when teacher demands it(as he cannot see he's done something wrong)/gets excluded from a class event due to his 'behaviours'.......

aimed for kids to watch- but i loved it....try to watch it on friday!!!

Fab idea Mrs F..... J hates the PS2....he cant do the controls and watch the screen at the same time....so he always ends up giving up. He will watch someone else play it though....and he is happy to tell them where they are going wrong....which often then results in ds1 telling J to Bog Off!!!!!! Computers he loves....as well as his Gameboy SP.

Photos are good for J.....we went to stay with some friends from another forum I visit. J had met them before BUT he was really worried about what their house was like....so D sent me photos of her house, inside and out. He was happier then about going to stay because he already knew what to expect.
CAT me and we can get the ball rolling.....

Forgot to add.....in my usual dippy way....that J is 9 in a couple of weeks time.

DS1 would LOVE J!!!!! He is a whizz at the PS - and LOVES an audience..... he would ignore any 'helpful advice'!!!! HE HATES the PS2....he only likes the 'original' version of anything (thats one of his AS 'prefers sameness' etc )...so today a 'original ' 13yr old playstation arrived that i bought off EBAY......he has been absorbed on it ALL DAY....

likewise.....his 1st go on a gamboy was the 'advance'...and his SP is now adopted by ds3....amuses me really....as another example of his AS ways in that he isn't bothered that 'everyone else wants the latest gear'....he likes what he likes and is quite indifferent to 'improved versions!'

We have 'XP' on our p.c....and he still harps on about Windows 95 being 'better for this....better for that' etc!!!! However i admit as far as computers go he is heavily into 'the latest gizmos etc'....but NOT because he wants to be 'in with the crowd'!!!

You mention J loves gameboy...and P.C's.... we have a CD which we can copy that has over 50 gameboy games on it (full original versions....not demos).....you put it into your pc and you can then actually play the game 'on the big screen'!!! Has J got anything like this....would he like it???? (i LOVE ds2 using it as when he does he is 'fixed' in 1 place....whereas when he is playing the gameboy he wanders around constantly....also i can keep ds3 away from him easier.
Also...on some games - like pokemon....u can even press the space bar constantly....and this speeds the game up....hope this means something!

(you may see now why I believe i have AS too!!!)

T-DS3 has loads of these'tricks up his sleeve' so if J is into pc's in this depth too...then theres plenty more where this came from!!!!

(ds1 has even found websites which let you 'create your own version of pokemon gameboy games'....he's also heavily into 'making his own music' on the pc....he searches the web for a song in 'midi' format- then changes the tempo/tone/instruments etc...and effectivly creates 'his own version ' of anything from a chart hit to gameboy music!!!

ENOUGH!!!

You will change your mind about meeting me if i go on!!!!

lol WOW!!!!!!!

Sounds like they will get on.....J amazes me because he cant read and yet he can whizz around our computer better than anyone in the bloody house. He says its so easy.....Yeah Right...I wish...says she who didnt know how to copy and paste until yesterday!!!!!

J is into usic BIG TIME....he plays the drums....really loves bashing away for hours on end.....but he hates loud noise.....CP said it's because he is making the noise and he is in control....thats why the drums work for him. Really good for bashing out the anger too.

Do you want to know something Mrs F....I have a feeling they will just be fine and dandy when they meet up.
