Hi
Does anyone know where i can get hold of popper vests/bodysuits for children aged 3+. I have found some websites but they charge £6.00 for each vest, which is quite expensive. Is this the norm or are they avaliable anywhere cheaper?

Thanks xx

The only popper vests for older kids that I know about are sold by Fledglings - they also cost about £6 per vest. I don't think popper vests for kids over 3yrs old can be found in the shops because the vast majority of kids are toilet trained and wearing ordinary pants by that age.

It is a shame parents with special needs children have to pay top prices for items for our children, my daughter has severe autism and probably wont be toilet trained in the near future. Its to help prevent her playing with her poo.

Yep, that's why I had to buy these vests too! They worked for awhile on my ds but I found that the cotton came away from the poppers, leaving small holes. I opted out of using these vests in the end and bought my ds some boiler suits to wear when at home AND in a nappy-exploration phase (he does go through phases so his boiler suit isn't always required) and in summer, he sometimes wears a bib-and-brace shorts outfit (think OshKosh type thing). These garments successfully prevent him from accessing his nappy

They are crafty little darlings arent they? haha. As im on the net now ive found some 'vest extenders' from here: www.babykind.co.uk/vestextenders.htm . May give them ago too.

I forgot to mention that when my ds wore the popper vests, he quickly figured out that although he could no longer access the contents of his nappy from the TOP, he could very easily access them from the SIDE, once he yanked down his trousers, so be warned!!!

That was why we graduated to the boiler suits - absolutely no access at all!

haha, actually i have noticed her hand starting to go up the side, but just thought 'no, shes not that crafty'. Will bare that in mind, thanks MMAJ xx

One of the kids I work with has a popper t-shirt (Rackety's) to prevent top access and wore jeans with a belt to prevent side access. Which works well as he can't figure out how to undo the belt.

I can sympathise - I remember searching shops with a tape measure looking for the biggest 2-3 size I could find! Eventually I used some extra generous in the body shortysleepsuits for Ds but havent got them anymore. There was an elastic strap (pair) thing with clips to convert a long length T to stop it coming untucked but it was not tough enough for determined ds. Dungerees were useful and all in one fleecy dressinggown things (no poppers) for night.

I buy them from Racketys, also £6 though

Could you convert a long t shirt or vest? I would sew poppers to the center bottom hem.
