His hips are slightly out of place and one of his leg bones (can't remember which one) are irregular. His spine xray noted a slight curve concaved to the left. GOS want the xrays there so they can do a second option on them.

Oh mieow sorry to hear that

What will the 2nd option be? xxx

coppertop · 17/02/2005 19:14

Oh no.

amynnixmum · 17/02/2005 19:15

what happens now?

misdee · 17/02/2005 19:18
Sad

Well the doctor said that the hip and leg "could" be fine, but the reporter could be used to adult xrays not kids, and the curve could have been the way he was laying, not sure what to believe atm, so I am going to wait for GOS to get the xrays films from QE2 and then find out

she did say that they will keep an eye on his spine with yearly xrays and if it becomes appartrent that something is up then they will take action

Curved spines are fairly common I thought (40%?). Hopefully it's nothing to worry about.

sparklymieow · 17/02/2005 19:24

she said it could be linked to the CP as many children with CP have scolisis or it could be something he would have devolped anyway.

I've got scoliosis although mine must be only minor as I only discovered it post children when I put my back out. Princess Eugenie had surgery to correct it a couple of years ago IIRC.

Hopefully GOS will shed more light on it for you.

If hips still turn out to be a problem, I can point you to a really good parental webiste for it. (my dd has dodgy hips, blame my genetics!)

sparklymieow · 17/02/2005 19:35

thanks

mieow - if by his leg being irregular they mean one is longer than the other it can cause the spine to curve. DD wears a shoe raise to prevent this from happening and it can be corrected. Hope this is the case for your ds.

sparklymieow · 17/02/2005 20:27

he doesn't have a leg lenght problem, he has been checked and checked for that.
