What do you do when a 'down' day sneaks up on you?

What do you find uplifting?

Not sure what set it off today.

Maybe my upcoming psych appointment for antental depression (8 September) and then had to get DD1 to physio straight after.

And in the post came the form I need to fill out to get her transport to the nursery with an SEN unit attached (it's called Additional Support Needs (ASN) up here) with 'Retained at Stage' across the top because she's being held back from school.

Am 30 weeks preggo so no wine or going for a run on the list!

Sorry you're feeling crap expat.... feeling rubbish myself, but its due to sleep deprivation here.
Things that help me are:
time on my own (not much of that in school hols)
buying magazines or a good book
buying expensive cosmetics (shallow I know)
walking in beautiful countryside
having a tidy home (again not happening in school hols)
phoning my sister

A nice bath while drinking a hot chocolate, (but then I don't drink alcohol!) and reading a good book with my ipod plugged in my ears. Sometimes when its all appt's and forms for ds and stuff I need me time. No money for new clothes, no time to shop, no taste for alcohol so a bath, music, chocolate and a book and I feel more 'me'.

sorry you had a crap day.

the things that sometimes work for me are a hot soak in the bath.
a girls night in.
a good old natter on the phone.

Go and hug your gorgeous children, or if they are sleeping, just go watch them sleep.

Then look beyond your own bubble. It's all relative you see.

I've just dealt with this rather badly- a half tub of ben and jerrys and a huge chocolate cookie here! I now feel annoyed with myself though If its day time and I feel like this I try to get out or see a friend or something to distract me. If its evening I go on here, ring people or sometimes just give up on the day and go to bed, knowing that I rarely feel so bad in the morning. Hope you feel better soon.

I am sorry you are having low day.
I have had a few, with the prospect of my 3 year old ds(asd) starting special needs nursery in September. I feel scared about him not coping a whole day on his own, albeit with lots of support, and at the same time sad that he won't be going to the local nursery, like all those 'other' kids.
ALso my 5 year old now has diagnosis of adhd aswell as aspergers syndrome, which I find bizarre, since I thought adhd was a part of as anyway. I now have to consider ritalin which is making me feel just so.....shell shocked. I can't bear the thought that my ds has to take ritalin, I feel a bit of a failure parent....even though I know that is not the reason he is the way he is.I feel sad for my little boy, more than a little guilty. I should know better than this, I have been torturing myself with this for years, I should should should know that it is now my fault, it is certainly not my darling boy's fault. I am starting to feel a bit of a freak. I am the only parent amongst my rl 'friends' with a child with autism, now I also have a child with adhd/as.
I will tell you what I am doing, I am eating chocolate, and shopping for new tv, so the kids can trash that aswell.

Tclanger posted a GREAT site last night for SN toys. just waiting for her DLA to show up in the account before having a little spending spree.

she has a lot of core muscle weakness, not surprising with dyspraxia, but my long abdominal muscles are separated (i get to go to physio, too!) so DH will need to do a lot of the exercises with her.

these holidays sort of SUCK, eh?

I get very little sleep and have been swimming in bodily fluids most of each night so a nice bath (alone for a change!) and a trashy mag or a great book relaxes me no end albeit at 4am like this morning!
Sometimes I fall asleep in the bath!
Oh and brushing my teeth! Gets rid of any frustration and makes me feel better!Plus I have no fillings lol
Cream cakes...

LOL! The crocs got you over excited, huh?

I've yet to delve into the land of crocs. I'm heavily leaning atm, despite hating how they look because my back is so bad it's affecting how I walk and I'm getting such sore feet.

the Mary Jane and the Alice ones look a lot more stylish than the Cayman style ones.

Fresh air. And when I've had more mud and dog poo than I can stand, chocolate.

The chocolate was impossible last pregnancy, though - it was one of the many things that gave me terrible heartburn.

I also find knitting very soothing. I've had a week off because of a wrist injury and I was almost as melty as the boys.
