How's the AS summer going?

DD is better in some ways because she is not so tired, but we are having sooooooooooo many whiney shrieky episodes - whereas before she would be upset that DS bit her (quite reasonable) she is now reaching the same fever pitch with him standing too near

I have tried to keep things as planned as possible - she knows a few days in advance of things happening, bedtime is the same etc. All in all, not going too badly!

She is asking for school though!

SOOOO glad I'm not in the UK and don't have the school uniform thing!! The very idea of trying to persuade DD to wear something ugly and uncomfortable to school. Uuuggh (shudders). I feel for you all!!

Mine don't mind the uniform to much but I think the shoes could be a problem. Hopefully they can wear their sandals for a couple of weeks transition (and because I can't face the back to school shoe-shop scrum).

Trust you to spot that CT i never even noticed (dim fecker i am) hehe.

The sun is out and the monsters are in the garden, up to mischeif in the garden YAY!!!!!!

luckylady74 · 14/08/2008 17:50

now you mention it ds1's continence has left something to be desired over the hols!
On a positive note he has discovered marmite and so in september I will be able to put a SANDWICH in his lunch box and feel like it's one small step to normality in our house!

BriocheDoree · 14/08/2008 17:56

Oh god don't even mention the toileting issues. We're up to 2 or 3 accidents a day here (though never when we're out, which is odd!) and it's driving me mad!!

ouryve · 14/08/2008 19:03

DS1 and I definitely enjoy each other's company far more when it's not all day. Even the trampoline we bought has lost its novelty (I have to tell him to do 50 jumps and make him count it to get any use out of it - at least the bonus with making him count is that he does a jump per syllable!) and we're just totally sick of all this rain.

DS2 is also sick of having his toys and food constantly stolen and feeling warned off touching anything with wheels has now taken to hiding the floor as quickly as he can. I'm feeling like I'm not getting any chances to play with him properly, either as it's taking all my effort to keep big brother constructively occupied which probably explains why he's reverting to throwing stuff all day. His naps are also completely messed up.

And I'm sick of the screaming and the wailing and... aaaargh!

The boys have group OT on Fridays. DS1 looks forward to it because it's a bit like going to school for him, since it's at a Surestart place but he doesn't want to join in with all the activities. DS2 couldn't care less. Most of the activities are beyond him and the hopping in hoops and making animal sounds they're doing tomorrow probably won't appeal to either boy, since DS1 rarely joins in movement activities at school and DS2 is DS2 is DS2 and a total law unto himself.

At least we're half way, now.

Seuss · 15/08/2008 08:56

The screaming is getting to me. Ds2 and dd have decided it looks like fun and are joining in when ds1 screams - thankfully I think our neighbours are on holiday!

They are all under threat of not going out if they scream but to be honest I don't think I can follow through on the threat because if we don't go out they will be even worse! (They don't seem to have sussed I'm bluffing though - fingers crossed!)

Well pox is going...slowly. Even the wind hurts it

I had the bright idea of renting high school musical - she has never shown any interest in it before (have suggested it a few times), but her friend loves it so she decided she wanted to watch it so she knew what it was about.

That was Weds afternoon.

Thursday afternoon I bought HSM2 so we could at least alternate films! I've never seen her like this before. I remember watching films over and over as a kid, but every few days, not finish and start again instantly I have no idea if NT 5 yr olds do this or not?? It seems to be she is enjoying watching it (actually sitting still which never happens), but when you ask her why she likes it, she just repeats her friend's reason of "I like Troy". You can tell as she says it she doesn't have some desperate longing for Troy (or what with her being 5....)

Argh! "No, no, no
Stick to the stuff you know"

DS does look cute bouncing round singing that... it is the only part he likes

I am sooooo pleased I don't have a screamer as such (only occasionally with tantrums). You all have my deepest respect for staying sane!

my ds1 watches things over and over - the other two are amazingly tolerent (although they do steal the controller sometimes). I was thinking of HSM - ds1 loves to sing!

daisy5678 · 18/08/2008 21:01

Ohhhhhh Flamesparrow...I have watched HSM and HSM2 so many times with my son (ASD). He's totally obsessed. We have the fecking CDs and everything. He wants to be Troy. Or Gabriella.

If I 'lose' the DVDs or CDs, he goes on the internet and finds clips.

OB. Sess. Sion.

It replaced 'Annie', 'Oliver' and 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'.

I can't decide which is the worst.

When in obsession phase with films, he will watch them repeatedly for months. He's only allowed TV at weekends in term time BUT some more in the holidays. Used to be to keep my sanity but if the film being watched is dire, it eats away at it! Still TV=calm boy.

BlueberryBeret · 25/08/2008 10:39

Sooooooooooo pleased she can't work the internet yet!!!

We have had a few days break from HSM by going away

She loved the going away thing, but the newness of everything, plus additives because I couldn't bring myself to say no to sweets that 10 other children with us were eating (), yesterday was HELL.

Nappiesgalore has never seen her with "issues" before, she has always had this way with her so that DD is the loving adorable little girl I know is in there, but yesterday she got to see the other side I sat down with DD and explained why she was feeling so cross, and although it didn't calm her as such, it calmed me enough to be able to handle her.

DS is going from afternoon nursery in a group of 8 children, to morning nursery in a full class.

I am going to start the routine with him soon bed, up, dressed, breakfast as it is really going to throw him out - it took soo long for him to settle at afternoon sessions.

I will be pleased to have a break from ds recting the moneysupermarket advert and phone number every few minutes.
