Can anyone recommend a private SALT with experience of asd in London?

We've been told the waiting time for our 2 1/2 yr old daughter to see the SALT could be around 6 months. We really want to start sooner than that and would appreciate any recommendations of private SALTs in London. My dd has asd and is verbally delayed. The consultant recommended 3 hour sessions a week to start with. Ideally I'd like to find someone with experience of hanen 'more than words' programme but any suggestions would be very gratefully received. Really struggling to find anyone!

good luck - I've been trying to find one for over a year, everyone is pretty booked up!

I know an amazing SALT in East London, she does miracles with ASD kids, she won't travel across town though and had no spare capacity last time I asked, but depending on your location worth a try?

we used the London Children's Practice for an assessment for dd1. I think they do regular ongoing stuff as well...

I would suggest looking into ABA too.

I'm a salt with extensive ASD experience (in NHS).

The consultant's recommendations are completely arbitrary. They don't really know.

Moondog, are there SALTs in London who deliver speech therapy through ABA? Or should I go the other way around and start a home-based ABA program and get ST this way? It's just that a home-based ABA is much more expensive...

I think there are one or two, yes, but as new to ABA don't know them. Try asking on Yahoo ABA UK online forum.

Troouble is that a lot of slts don't 'get' ABA and can be hostile which is last thing you need.

we went to Ruth Jacobs YEARS ago and by chance the person we were allocated to used very behavioural methods which was luck, so you never know who you might get at a practice and how they might work......
