Can I do one of my 'ds1 is so clever/weird' threads again?

So he trotted down the stairs on Friday night carrying his book of photos of our city. He then very deliberately showed me some photos - including some of the same street from different angles which I thought was quite clever.

The next day I realised (when he was banging on about it again) that the photos he showed me can all be seen from his bedroom window providing you use his binoculars. When I say 'seen' it might actually be only a tiny bit of the photo- so for example the teeny tiny top of a tower of one hotel in the far distance which was a small part of the photo in the first place.

strange clever child.

Naming his playscheme is great. DS1 said 'backpack' (he loved his baby carrier backpack) when he was about 12 months. We thought he was going to speak early which just shows how wrong you can be. He stopped saying it and didn't say anything again 'til he was three and a half.

ds1 said loads when he was 13 months. I sometimes think I dreamed it but we have it on video! Loads of sounds as well that he hasn't now produced for over 8 years. My favourite is him sssssssing when playing with a snake. He just can't sssssss now.

I remember the picture within the picture thread - definitely clever stuff.

  • when's your camping trip, or have you been?

I have video of DS2 saying 'jump jump' when he was 13 months - the whole word, with all the sounds clear. It took him four years to be able to do that again.

end of the summer chonky.

ds1 has been a bit insane since I booked it so I am keeping fingers crossed he will calm down!

the picture within the picture stuff was clever too I am taking up photography again as a hobby and plan to try and use him to get interesting shots (see the world through his eyes - look at how he's looking at things).

I love that wagon wheel was in there and came out iykwim (was it a wheel or a biscuit - I'm guessing a biscuit )

Amazing, the detail he can see in things is fantastic. He is obviously a smart boy.
I hope the typing takes off.

It is strange what they can "see" ds2 can' tell one letter from the other or pick family members out in a photo but has just thrown his breakfast back at me because he knew it was different margarine on his toast just by looking at it.
Maybe he'll be a food critic.

What's his sense of smell like? DS1 is like a dog. Can't get anything food wise past him because he can smell it.

Ahh never thought of the smell, yes its like living with a blood hound.
Trust me non verbal is good sometimes ds2 often comments on how people smell, complete strangers in a queue seems to be his favourite at the moment. He also told our next door neighbour that she smelt like rubbish in the dustbin

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 25/07/2008 22:14

pmsl. My friend's dd (who tells everyone what she thinks of them) frequently reminds me that non-verbal can be good. Mind you so do ds2 and ds3.
