Hi there, do you have a deaf or hearing impaired child ? Has your baby just failed the newborn screening ? Are you hearing parents and never had any experience of deafness before ?
My ds was diagnosed profoundly deaf at 6 days old, although I have had lots of help and support from various organisations I thought it would be good to post this for any other mums out there going through the same thing and help each other through our own experiences.

We bought one of those disco ball lights for our dd3, from toys r us I think, it works for her, helps her settle down.

QB we were told signing was a good way to go with dd3 as it would help her communicate before she had speech, so we are signing now, albeit only basics, but it stops her from getting frustrated. I think the theory is that as she gets more speech she will drop the signing, I'm hoping she wont though, I think it's a really useful skill to have, especially if she wants to be part of the deaf community when she is older.

DD3 has pink aids and pink moulds, dd2 is waiting for dd3s moulds to be big enough for pictures, she's already picked out a tinkerbell picture for her, dh fancies the liverpool fc crest, ds has seen a cyberman one he likes. The looks I got when I suggested dd3 might like to choose herself!
