i was in the chinease takeaway tonight with dd2, who is very loud and bouncey. a man come in with his ds, and i clicked he has autism (hand movement, hummiing, and fingers in his ears looking very paniced). i asked dd2 to keep her noise down (very hard thing for her to do), but she did do it, and whispered why i was asking her to be quiet. i said that the boy sitting next to me didnt like too much noise. by then he had taken his fingers out of his ears.

was that ok?

I think so, sounds very respectful to me, plus anything that makes a tricky situation easier has got to be a good thing - well done to your dd for stopping bouncing too.

oh good, i didnt want to seem too OTT or anything. i have some contact with personalclowns ds (dd2 and him are similar age and used to play together when we lived in the same block of flats), so know a little bit about it.
