I have a dd with sensory issues who has made dramatic improvements to the point where I am not reapplying for DLA when it runs out at end of year.

I wrote to tell DLA of improvement and they have just rang me to say I had to reapply with new info. I said I was not going to fill renewal in as i did not think dd is entitled so they said they would not chase up matter or stop DLA.

Seems stupid to me when ppl who deserve it more than dd cannot get in and i still get it when dd doesn't warrant it.

I think they are covering themselves so you don't turn round after they've stopped it and deny that you asked them to stop it based on a phone call. If you fill in the renewal you can just put a note on the top that you would like it stopped and when it comes to filling in the information, you can compare your dd to a child that doesn't need help. EG "most children my daughter's age can do x and as my daughter can also do this now I am using this as evidence that she doesn't warrant DLA".

I think if you don't send back the renewal form then they will simply stop the DLA at the renewal date. DS's is due to run out on July 22nd and I haven't sent back the renewal forms yet as he recently changed meds and i wanted to wait until he had been on them for 3 months before filling in the forms and including any side effects (such as not sleeping!). I have receieved 2 reminders telling me that payment will stop on this date if they don't receive the forms. CA have also contacted me to say that my payments will stop from that time if they don't renew his DLA.

It said on renewal letter just not to bother filling it in if you feel you are no longer entitled.

I thought it was better to be honest and then it was upto them to make the decision,

Ahh i see, so you don't think she is still entitled but aren't sure. In that case I would reapply and let them make the decision.

no, i am pretty sure she is not entitled so i told them.
