Is this Dyspraxia or something else

Hi, DS2(4yrs) has recently been diagnosed with dyspraxia, he is getting SALT for his speech problems and is on the waiting list for OT.
We have noticed something about him lately and are not sure if it is part of the dyspraxia or something else. He does this thing that we call zoning out, he just stares into space, you can call his name or wave your hand in front of his face and get no response at all. If you then shake his shoulder (gently) he will look at you but with a blank expression on his face.
Does anyone know what this is? I'm not sure if it's happening more often or if we are just noticing it more now that we are aware of it.
All advice is greatly appreciated

Take him to the doctor's it sounds like it may be epilepsy. How are his pupils at the time? Are they dilated? How long do the episodes last? Can he remember them?

i agree, take him to the doctor.

it's possible to have dyspraxia and other conditions or his problems may stem from undiagnosed other conditions.

I'm not sure if his pupils are dilated, I've never looked. He doesn't know that we were calling his name or putting a hand in front of his face. His teacher describes him as a bit of a daydreamer so I'm assuming it has been happening at school too.
Looks like yet another trip to the Doctors, I swear with how often we're there with both boys we could take up residence

hi my ds has language problems and HFA and also zones out you could call his name clap hands in front of him and nothing would get his attention aslo now his speech is improving he is doing this less and is more receptive i think its there escape or trying hard to figure things out

Ds2 does this sometimes too. He doesn't have a diagnosis but is definitely dyspraxic along with big communication difficulties. We haven't been investigated for epilepsy, although I have considered it, but I think it is as Tclanger says, a sort of sensory overload, where he is taking time out to process. He does it less frequently with us now, but I think he does it still at school where there can be a lot of sensory information coming from all sides.
