Dear all,

Please can someone help me with some advice..I am a single mother of 2, my eldest is autistic and in a mainsteam school for 2 years now (parttime) and ABA at home. My ds has many sensory needs and I really need to move outside london for better space (home is very small and on second floor with no outside play), as well as small classroom size as he struggle with the noise and chaos of 31 in class every day. Can anyone suggest area that is sympathetic to Statemented children just outside London. many thanks in advance

I'd ring round the local autism charities for a few areas (www.nas.org.uk shows all the local ones), and ask what they think of their local school provision. They're often really good sources of info? Your own local autism charity might also have some ideas about support that can help right now, but you're probably already in contact with them.

Hum, I was close to posting not here too (Herts) but with a statement already it might be better?? Are you looking for ms, ms with an asd unit, a mld/asd school or a parent run asd facilty?.
Agree with Amber ringing round local asd support groups is a good starting point.

Kingston is pretty good for ABA plus mainstream, and is just outside London and very leafy and green - downside - v expensive but if you look into a place called Ham (just up the road from Kingston and from an ABA-friendly mainstream school called Fern Hill) I know there is a lot of affordable housing.

Ah. Sorry 2plusangels, ms with asd unit is not Herts forte, -there are some very good MLDs with ASD units though)!
