DD has just started using the mouse pretty well, am made up

we look at c beebies together, and she also likes doing the 'colouring' on peppa pig

I wanted something for her for phonics, she is just starting to sound out words and 'read' them

But it has to be something catchy,

I find a lot are too slow for her, she doesnt like to wait!

any good sites to look at

doesnt just have to be phonics

shes 7 in August but a lot younger developmentally

thanks

www.headsprout.com is ace but you only get to do 3 levels as a free trial. (very phonics driven).

Poisson rouge is good. Sorry - in huge rush so can't do link, but you should find it if you google.

www.nick.jr.co.uk or .com is good, but rather commercialised and non-eductional!

anniebear · 24/06/2008 14:34

thanks will take a look

suppose they have to be aimed at a 3/4 year old

I think that headsprout.com is more aimed at children with reading difficulties rather than 3/4 year olds.

it is so hard to put an age on her! I cant really, that was a rough guess

she cant write letters, but is getting good at sounding out and 'reading words' shes also enjoying the pc at the mo

maybe 3 was a bit young for some things

thanks again

poisson rouge

my ds really likes it, there are so many different bits to it, games, alphabet, it is amazing, my ds got really into it, has some spanish and french phrases too ... je suis un robot (ds says this and does robot style walk).

DS1 loves starfall.com and taught himself to read with it. It's American, but I kept the sound low and worked through it with him. It works right through form initial letter sounds to reading for fun in different contexts and includes lots of animations to teach the more complex parts of phonics, too.

Second Starfall - my DD loves all of those, although she's not reading yet she just loves the games. I have a friend who swears by www.english-avenue.com/ but it's not free and I thought it was too advanced for mine but it's also phonics based.
