I know its a lovely school but i still feel so that we lost the tribunal and she,s going in with no support.

she has said this morning she will go and look but she doesnt want any children to be there, thats going to be a tad difficult.

I spoke to DS keyworker the other day, he often rings for a chat and he said dont view it as the end of the world, the school will pick up straightaway on what the nursery ignored and they will wanther statemented if she needs it, plus the consultant psych from camhs is going in september to see the school and dd so its starting to come together in that way.

i cant help feeling that i failed her, even though its not our fault that we lost, the LEA played a very dirty game and repeatedly lied in the tribunal, but we shall see.

I agree with the keyworker - hopefully the school won't want to sweep things under the carpet the way nursery did, and will support you in getting help for DD. hope the visit goes OK. If you speak to school Senco/head you can get a feel for how used they are to kids with your DD's problems and what sort of support there is. Even if a kid doesn't have any support via statement, some schools can still be very committed to helping their kids with SN (eg. one school I visited for DS didn't have any kids with statements (which rather put me off it!), but did have a room with sensory equipment for when kids with SN needed some quiet time away from class).

Hope it goes ok Jenk

reading all your posts over the last few years, you certainly havent failed her

jenk - did you have school on board during statementing process? all the way through with ours i've checked and double-checked with the primary head - i'd agree that they aren't going to just go along with the tribunal decision if they need additional LEA funding to meet your daughter's needs. our head has been fab all the way along and i'm really looking forward to september when dd starts - hope your visit goes well and the head manages to allay your fears about how they/ she will cope. will the senco be there this afternoon too?

Well it went quite good

DD refused to walk and had to be carried, which is normal behaviour when we are out in public, (we are going to have to seriously think about using her wheelchair more often now cos she,s getting too heavy to carry all the time).

she refused to walk into the hall and so DH carried her, she wouldnt look at anyone for the first 15 mins and just sat in the middle holding our hands, then i asked her to play with some bricks with me so she did, but sat with her back to the little girl next to her, the little girl tried to react and dd got a bit upset, so we moved to the table with jigsaws, and the support assistant managed to get her to say a couple of things.
Then her teacher asked her to colour a picture with her and she did and i was able to leave her and sit across which is great!!!!

she wouldnt have any thing to do with any of the other children and didnt want to acknowledge them at all.

I spoke to the teacher about dd,s SN she said not to worry they have a specially built changing room (ive seen it and its fab really modern with a shower etc) that they are used to children in nappies with medical conditions and they would work alongside us to help her.
none of the attitude of nursery, we know best and you are a flippin loon thinking your daughter is ASD.

Feel quite positive, we are back there again next week, although dd said she will go back but she doesnt want any children to be there!

I'm so glad it went well!

We went to the nursery where the SEN unit is attached today.

Hoping the LEA approves the extra year she needs.

keep my fingers crossed for you that they do expat.
