How can I help my son he's 10. He's getting eaten alive in a scottish primary school. He has inattentive adhd and low muscle tone. He struggles with emotional regulation .He can't stand teasing or unfairness so is a huge target for the other kids. Please help me help my lovely insightful boy. He would never be mean back and takes everything to heart. His teacher is great but has a class of 30 kids.

Is DS on ADHD medication? When was that last reviewed?

Has DS have physio and OT assessments? Does DS have ongoing support from them? Does he have any equipment/aids he uses?

Has he had an EP assessment?

What support is the school providing? What have they already tried that hasn’t worked?

Have a look at Enquire.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply @scoopofmintchocchipicecream He had physio and ot
when he was little. I don't know about meds he's a dreamer but willing to try. No aids needed other than orthotics although he hurts himself alot, falls over, easily hurt. Is an ep.assessment an educational psychologist he has an appointment in the summer. Enquire looks like a great resource thank you so much. His teacher gives him extra time but often has moved on and he's still.complering his work I did ask to get stuff home to finish. It's really me driving things after year on year his teachers said he doesnt complete the work. Would cbt be helpful for his anxiety

Sorry, yes, EP is educational psychologist.

I would definitely try ADHD medication. Not for all but for some it is a game changer.

I would look at a referral to OT and physio again. If DS has low tone, it is likely he would benefit from their input, including aids/equipment.

Rather than writing, has DS ever tried using a laptop and assistive technology?

CBT might help, but if DS’s anxiety is driven by unmet needs, which it sounds like it is, then it won’t solve the problem. And for some, CBT doesn’t work.
