We have decided to bite the bullet and book a skiing holiday. Our youngest is 8 and has DS. He is really mobile and is taking skiing lessons now. He will need one to one lessons and probably childcare in afternoon. we are looking for recommendations either in europe or states. Thanks

I have very little experience of skiing (and none of skiing with children) so don't have anything useful to contribute BUT wonder if these people might be able to give you some info:-

I accept it's probably pricey to get to but in the HemiHelp magazine a few months ago there was a very good write up for the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Centre in Colorado. It has a ski school for disabled people which is much cheaper than usual ski schools. It has all the latest techniques and equipment.

When I was in Big White this year I saw lots of disabled skiers out - they seemed to have a very good programme. It all looked like 2 instructors per person. They got the ski Canada award for best adaptive ski programme.

Here is some info Powderhounds. The guy in the photo in the cowboy hat seemed to be out with someone everyday. It looked like his students had a blast, but imagine as a parent you would probably have your heart in your mouth the whole time.

I'm not sure about afternoon daycare - but the general daycare was very good.

Breckenridge is very high and your ds (and the rest of you) may suffer from the altitude for a few days, which might make things harder.
