yesterday she had tonsils/adenoids out and grommits in.

shes refused everything even her favourite mash and beans, theyve offered her chocolate, chocolate mousse, favourite yoghurts, you name it and she is now refusing to drink the water cos its not "the right water".

ive just come home having been there since yesterday morning cos am exhausted and dh has taken over, they have said they will put her on a drip tonight if she doesnt start eating/drinking properly.

running out of ideas, ive sent dh in with her favourite pasta dish, noddy bowl, spoon and fork and her favourite plate and bottled water.

basically she wants to be at home, she kicked off big time when they tried to take her blood pressure and the anaesthatist wanted her sats monitoring throughout the night as she has a history of sleep apnea but she kept kicking the clip off and screaming.

if i wanted to go the toilet one of the nurses has to distract her cos she screams the place down, i just want to bring her home, i know she,ll eat here, her routine is up in the air and she,s extremely distressed.

jenk1 - do you think she 's OK to come home? If so then bring her home.

The last time my dd was in hossie after surgery she was really unhappy; the ward was noisy - she hates going to a loo thats not her own, she's fussy about what she eats etc. We just sprung her out in the end - said we were going, that we knew her well enough to bring her back if things weren't right.

dh did have to 'borrow' a wheelchair to get her to the car and she threw up on the way home but once in her own bed all was well

Hi Jenk! Your poor dd. She's probably got a sore throat, feeling groggy and disorientated by the strange place.
Do you think she would relax/eat if taken for a walk/ride in the grounds (if allowed off the ward?)and you shared your picnic with her? (Worked with ds although he was younger and had been on a tube for a while) or perhaps take to the shop to choose a snack- (ds wanted cathedral cheddar which then needed a drink!!) would she succumb to an ice lollie- or something with a smell she likes like strawberries or juice?
You are probably right she needs to be at home - would they let her home for the night and ring back in the morning?
