I know my 6-7 month old has autism, I’m so worried about his future. If you seen signs this young, how is your LO now? What level were they diagnosed? Any advice on what I can do to help now?

I didn’t really spot signs at 6 months at the time but, in hindsight, they were there…..

Lack of pain reaction to jabs etc. Didn’t even flinch at heel prick test when an infant. First set of jabs had very minimal reaction. We now know he has poor interception.
As a newborn- 3months he was fascinated by lights and would stare at them for hours at a time, in a manner so unusual that others would comment on it. As he grew older, he eyes became more attuned to things, he found bright light intolerable and would scream. He is 12 and still photosensitive. He couldn’t sleep in daylight as a baby and we have to make his room as dark as a cave.
Would make eye contact with me, but rarely made eye contact with others, would seem to just look through them, as if he wasn’t aware they were there.

But all autistic kids are different so I’m not really sure this list will be helpful….

I am the ‘crazy first time mum’ you politely mentioned - or so the doctor thought when I took mine because she wouldn’t stop screaming.

to be honest 6 months is so young and the behaviours sound fine for that age. You do sound like you are worrying plus you can’t really get interventions at that age, you need time to play out and see what his character is and needs are. If he is autistic then you can’t change or improve it. You can help him but not at that age. I wouldn’t worry about being non verbal. Main concern for me would be behaviour. Could be non verbal and happy as a bee. Just chill and enjoy him and time will tell.
