Can the school expect me to go in every lunchtime?

My ds is 5. He has autism and possible adhd. His ehcp is currently in the draft stage and he is re doing his reception year at school.
I received an email yesterday asking if i would go in every lunchtime to support him or take him home for lunch as they do not have the funding/staff to do it. He can't cope eating with thr other children and they want him to go to 'lunchclub'. Does anyone have experience with this? Can the school expect this and what happens if i can't. Bringing him home for lunch is not an option as he wouldn't go back. We struggle to get him to school most days anyway. I have a 3 yr old who only goes to preschool for 2 days. I don't currently work but i was hoping to return to my job once ds was settled into school

The school can’t force you to go in. Unless the school is going to formally suspend every lunchtime, which a) you would be able to challenge since they shouldn’t be suspending because they can’t meet DS’s SEN and b) would only be possible for so long, they cannot insist you take DS home for lunch either.
