I've taken the plunge and joined a local SN charity that organises day trips in the school holidays. Today we went to a soft play centre and it was awesome - I had two helpers assigned to me and the dd's! DD2 who is only 2 and has CP really took to the young lad who was helping her and was off climbing all over the place. The biggest shock was seeing dd1 who is 3 actually running around with her helper and climbing over everything at break-neck speed. It made me realise that she always waits for dd2 and goes at her speed. It was lovely seeing her being able to be a normal care-free 3 year old. So all in all, pretty cool and I'm really glad I finally took the plunge and 'went public'.

Sounds great. What is the charity called?

It's called 'Coping with chaos' (very apt name...!) - as far as I'm aware it's only a local charity although there might be similar things in other parts of the country. They also offer counselling for parents and siblings with a trained counsellor who has experience of SN - and you only have to pay a donation of £1/session. The counselling has been a real godsend for me and it's great seeing someone who knows about SN so I don't have to explain everything.
