What qualifies as disabled for being able to take parental leave as separate days?

just wondering what qualifies as a disabled child for being able to take parental leave in one day blocks? Do you need to be receiving DLA? I don’t receive DLA for my daughter but she has regular physio appointments and other medical appointments (paediatrician/neurologist, various tests) for a medical condition that we don’t have a proper diagnosis for yet. Would this qualify for being able to take parental leave in 1 day blocks? My current job is very flexible but I may be made redundant and need to look for a new job which is unlikely to be as flexible.

It is DLA/PIP.

Have you considered applying?

I don’t think we qualify for DLA at the moment. DD is just turned 3 and can walk a short distance (but much less than typical 3 year olds and falls over a lot, we still need to take the buggy everywhere) so won’t qualify for mobility. For care I’m not sure but since lots of 3 year olds still need quite a bit of personal care I don’t think we will qualify. DD is not potty trained for example but plenty of 3 year olds are not. She needs help up and down stairs and is not close to being able to dress herself but there would be typical 3 year olds that still struggle with these things.

I would look at the Cerebra guide. There may be relevant things you are doing that you don’t realise count.

Toileting support and dressing depend on the child’s needs. Even at 3, some need a lot more support with them than others.
