SN children

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Have any of you managed to get regular ed. psych. advice/ reviews into your kids' Statements?

Just that really. I would like the EP to be more involved, just as a way of keeping the school staff on their toes a bit when it comes to developing J's social skills. Or should that be a SALT? Or the autism outreach team who ARE written into Part 3 for hamlf termly visits?

Just wondered how ASD 'supervision' is offered to others' kids to ensure that staff are up to date with what they should be doing... that dreaded word: 'strategies'

Still waiting for proposed statement, didn't think you could do this. I think ed psych has input for IEP. Though not sure.

Parents usually asked if they would like to help target set for IEP - perhaps stipulate that at least one target per term should be a social skill? That way they have to think about social development (at least at IEP review time har har)...
Ed Psych here only usually involved at annual review or if called by the school in the interim - and suspect all they do is sign off last year's report as little impetus to re-assess it seems...
I'd be using the autism outreach team in that circumstance - they will probably be more on the ball - ed psych here is lovely but a bit 'one size fits all'...
