My DD enjoyes collecting money

If that's not available, she'll gladly have a new barbie to add to her vast collection. if it's a ballet barbie, even better!

Ds2 collects stones (not the Mick Jagger variety). He comes home with his pockets full of the bloody lovely things.

My DS is always making little collections of seemingly quite unconnected objects (a pen, a nose from Mr Potato head, a small scrap of paper, a pen lid, the TV remote control, my car keys etc) and shoving them under the sofa, or down the back of the radiator! At least I now know where to look, as before these things would just disappear for months! Who knows why he does this - is he squirrelling away his favourite items to protect them? He obviously has his own little autistic reasons though!

Lol, my 5 year old ds collects stones too. I have made him store them in a bucket in the garden. Before that he kept them under his bed. He also hides the remote control, drives me nuts!
My 3 year old has not learnt to do this yet, thank God!

I've just had a look to see what's in my ds's collection box. He's got a fork covered in sellotape, an old credit card wrapped in toilet paper, a tooth that he didn't want to give to the tooth fairy, various sized stones, a feather and several badges.

stones, from anywhere little bits of nondescript gravel to lovely large smooth stones.
We have a big glass container which she pops them into.

My DD is going through a phase of collecting socks!, have found her head first in the washing basket before now searching for them , she has 2 on her hands and then holds handfuls more and seems really happy doing so!

Oh, forgot about my 18 month old ds, who loves socks. He has now started removing them from other people's feet. He removes their shoes first, then their socks.I have to warn visitors. He takes them out of the washing machine too.
At least it is not only my children that have interesting hobbies!

twocutedarlings · 19/05/2008 14:07

DD collects 5 pences, and like to go through my Dads pockets every time he vistits.

I keep trying to get her more interested in pound coins .

allytjd · 19/05/2008 17:59

The sock lovers would have liked the game i did at DS3's birthday party which involved matching up pairs of socks that were hidden round the garden, i did give them a sweeety for every successful match, tho' they got a bit over excited and the 'matching ' got a bit random. All 3 of my boys collect sticks every time they go for a walk and woe betide me if they catch me using them as kindling!

DS2 collects plush toys - currently doing the new lion king ones from Disney and the sesame street ones.
And DVDs - farkin hundreds of them. And many films he has to collect in every format so, VHS, DVD i disc, DVD 2 disc special edition - etc etc.

One day i am going to have a fantastic ebay shop. His room is like Blockbuster.

Conkers, sycamore 'helicopters', acorns, seeds, leaves, buds, depending on the season. Here the attention is really on the finding of them and ds can spend many long hours searching! (Picture poor me huddled in coat freasing, weighed down with bags of prickly conkers, desperate for a cuppa)
Soldiers/pirates/vikings! lego men, megablocks men, playmobil men - all complete with weapon of course!

catok · 20/05/2008 22:42

Stones - in sock drawer
Paper clips - in money box
Money - usually mixed with the lego (but he knows exactly how much!)
Too many small cars for a 9 year-old with a small bedroom, always in an alphabetical traffic jam.
Calculators recently "they've all got the same buttons!!"
And a huge family of smiling stress balls (only present he is interested in)
