DS is eight and has been referred to our local learning disability team by our family support worker, which is for children.with moderate or severe learning disability’s. He has a diagnosis of ASC with language delay but he is verbal. He attends a SS. He has problems with concentration, but with the support of a 1:1 he is beginning to read a couple of words, add and subtract numbers to five. There are certain things he has occasionally picked up very quickly at school
with little teaching, he can problem solve, has a good sense of direction. Since he was a toddler he knew his alphabet, recognised numbers and could point facial features out on people when asked. I’m not sure if this qualifies him as having a moderate or severe learning disability?
