what other options are there. Daughter age 5 was offered specialist provision by panel but opted for mainstream with 121 as shes very sociable and loves being with other children. None of the specialist schools we viewed i felt would offer her enough but shes struggling in mainstream. She has 121 and initially was enjoying playing with others but as their friendships have formed shes been left behind she struggles to initiate play even though she wants to be involved. She still goes in happy but school have mentioned she looks sad when everyones playing and shes struggling with communicating with peers. I feel really sad about her feeling left out. She has a twin who is at specialist but he's completely different and is happy on his own in his own bubble and i know all the other children in class are similar but she is feeling that feeling of being different & left out. But where do children go when they dont fit in mainstream or specialist? I did ask her teacher for her honest opinion who has said she doesn't think its the right environment and feels it will only get harder for her!

Have you looked at all special schools, including independent schools and those out of area, within travelling distance (the max recommended travel time is 45mins for primary but some travel further)?

Have you looked at independent mainstream schools?

Any units/bases AIBU mainstream schools?

If it is inappropriate for the provision to be made in a school, there is EOTAS.

What support is DD receiving for social interaction and communication difficulties?
