Advice on first meeting with senco

We have been concerned about the possibility of DD9 having ADHD for a while now, but she has started complaining of stomach ache every day while at school (GP says nothing physical wrong, thinks it's school based anxiety) and DD has recently said she thinks she has "a problem" because she is easily distracted while at school.

She ticks almost all points on the NHS ADHD list, and other family members have recently asked about whether we had thought about autism, we hadn't discussed any issues with them previously so this was something they had noticed themselves.

She is not struggling with work at school, she has friends and is perfectly behaved. She absolutely would not do anything that will get her in trouble at school. Obviously she is different at home. I asked for her to access ELSA support due to the constant stomach ache (school are calling me every day to ask if she can have paracetamol) but her teacher says they haven't got any concerns and the waiting list is long so DD can't access it. Her classroom is loud, busy and they have some issues with behaviour.

I have a meeting with the SENCO this afternoon, any suggestions of how to approach this please? I've never been here before! Thanks

Follow up your meeting with an email so you have a paper trail.

If DD hasn’t already been referred for further assessment, request that.

I would push for further support. The school has a duty to make their best endeavours to meet DD’s SEN. As well as ELSA, do they have anyone who can support Zones of Regulation work separately, do they run a nurture group, have anyone who can facilitate drawing and talking therapy? Have they looked at placement within the classroom? Does DD use ear defenders or noise cancelling headphones?
