Filling in PIP forms

Hi everyone,
I have to fill in pip form for my 16 years old DS , the forms have complicated questions which i am not confident how to answer for example my son has autism and he can't take bath by himself so they ask " why he can't take bath"
I am confused and wondering if I should ask a citizen advice or a good friend who might know it better filling in thus form or a charity like Disability Support Project, which one is better to have more chances of success of tge claim.
Please advice

TIA

Yes, ask if you want someone to help. Personally, I wouldn’t pay someone to do it, though.

This is the best free guide I know of. Some people pay for benefits and works guides.

You don’t need to word it in a particular way or Be particularly formal. If you want help then as pp said I wouldn’t pay for it but if there is a free service that can look at it with you that might make you feel more confident?
it might help to imagine what you would have to tell someone if you went away. Lots of people need help washing for a variety of reasons so they are only asking to see how they would classify his difficulties.

Thank you both so much, very much appreciated .
Can I fill in his form and write them that i did it for him.
If I do so, do I write " he lacks ability doing things"?
I mean could I fill in the form for him and he sign?

Are you appointee?

If so, you can complete the form and you sign the form. You can write “X needs assistance to shower…”

If you are not appointee, you can help DS complete the form but he will need to sign it. Some write “X needs assistance to shower…” and some write “I need assistance to shower…” it doesn’t matter which.

Thanks
I decided not to be appointee as he has language though not like a normal child of his age.
When I write and fill in his form, do I need to tick it somewhere as if it was filled by me?

If DS is signing the form, but you are helping complete it/complete it for him, you don’t need to tick anywhere to say you helped him complete the PIP form.

Hi,
I filled in the PIP form for my DS myself with help from your guide link for pip.
I sent the forms day before yesterday and today we have a text message from Health Assessment Advisory Service, it writes as below

"Hello from Health Assessment Advisory Service. We conduct Personal Independence Payment (PIP) assessments for the Department for Work and Pensions DWP. This is for information purposes only, to let you know that we are managing your PIP assessment. We will look at the available evidence and will contact you with an appointment if we need to have a consultation with you. You can find information about the service we provide at www.haas.ingeus.co.uk. You do not need to contact us."

Do they send this message to everyone claiming PIP?
Does it mean my son is going to have an assessment?
He is verbal but still struggle to under with speech if it's not simple.
What is your advice?
When should we expect it as I thought we can have a break on Christmas and new year holidays...

Thanks

Everyone claiming PIP has an assessment of some sort. Some have a paper based assessment, some telephone, some virtual and a minority F2F. If DS has an telephone/virtual assessment, because you are not appointee, he will need to be present although you can still help with questions etc. He would obviously need to be present for a F2F appointment too. If DS is to have an telephone/virtual/F2F assessment, how long until an appointment is like how long is a piece of string. It depends on where you are and what type of assessment. Not everyone gets texts.
