Currently, most new claims are taking 17-20 weeks. Some quicker. Some slightly longer.

@abcflower sorry do you mind me asking what your son is like with adhd and tourette.
My son 13 has adhd but recently then involuntary movements have been a lot. the shouting out is horrendous. He says he struggles to control it. how do i know if it’s adhd or something more?

back in 2022, i noticed head jerking and this awful loud vocal tic- it went on and on. i went to the GP as he said he couldn't control it and it was giving him a headache and they made a note of it. but when he had a pediatrician appointment last summer, he noticed as well and that is when it was diagnosed. it flairs up with stress at the moment his tics are bad as its coming to the end of the school term. apparently you have to have a vocal tic as well as a motor tic.

thank you. What exactly do they class as a vocal tick? it’s might not be what my son has. It’s a constant blurting out of rap songs. They are not repetitive but they come out of nowhere eg sitting calmly at the table which then sets everyone else off. and the fight and arguing starts

last night he told me he is struggling to control his fidgeting which he doesn’t normally admit to as knows im going to suggest taking more meds so assuming it is true and it’s only a matter of time until things start to show at school as well

vocal tick could be anything- a squeak or a word. may be worth chatting to the GP. my boy at the moment des this funny thing with him arm and eyes and well it started off with a quiet squeak but its getting louder and louder. his language is awful but its hard to know if it its the tourettes, adhd or asd!

i know what you mean now thanks for that. i do think my son’s noises is more adhd than ticks.
I assume there is no medication for tourette. Does adhd meds help with it?

Theres medication for tourettes but the pediatrician advised us to avoid it as theres alot of side effects so unless it gets really bad at school/ bullying then we will look into it. We avoided the adhd meds at the moment as on type would make his tics worse and the other would cause problems with his other medical condition.A real nightmare!
