Hi I hope you don't mind me posting on this SN site but I put this question on the allergies site and someone said to ask you and that this was the place to find you....
My query relates to MMR and the link with autism - my dd has a number of allergies (eggs, lentils, strawberries, pineapple plus bad eczema) and I wondered if this meant that because of a 'faulty' immune system she might be more susceptible to developing ASD and/or bowel disorders as a result? Should I opt for single jabs? (I'm aware of the potential for an egg allergic reaction so she's been offered to have them in hospital) Any advice gratefully received. Thanks

Oh god I can't answer that! I never tell anyone what to do or not. Richard Halvorsen (NHS GP) will though. He has a private practice and he can give MMR/singles or none and gives an opinion on what's best for your child. I'm going to take ds2 and ds3 to him one day.

In terms of Wakefield's research the problems was with an atypical response to measles. Which seems to go with Crohn's disease rather than allergies as such.

However there may be other potential adverse reactions (other than the Wakefield one) which could be related to allergies.

If you can afford it I'd go and see Halvorsen. He really knows his stuff.

Thank you very very much for taking the time to respond - I think I'll do that!
