Child who won't eat/talk after losing tooth

Hi

My daughters best friend lost her tooth last week Wednesday and hasn't opened her mouth since. She developed infection attended hospital etc but still won't eat a thing, she's taking small sips of fluid but nothing else, she's 6 and is autistic. She also won't talk(was verbal before this)

Her mum is very worried she has always been a small build but has now lost more weight, school are getting CAMHS services, she's at the hospital again now where they're going to put a feed tube in

Anyone had similar experiences

Thanks

Will the DD drink high calorie drinks? Either prescribed (you can get some high calorie, low volume ones) or things like milkshakes? Will she lick an ice lolly?

Has the infection cleared? If not, the there may be an awful taste in her mouth changing the taste of food and drink, and she may still feel rubbish.

She was taking some sips of smoothies & when her mum managed to get some food in her mouth she was just storing then spitting back out. I'm not sure if the infections cleared completely so that could be adding to it, obviously losing the tooth has had a big effect sensory wise but her mum's worried as there's plenty more to lose!

I don’t know if the hospital would use it for a younger child, but the parents could ask about Difflam oral rinse/benzydamine hydrochloride mouthwash. If they can get DD to take it, it slightly numbs the mouth and can help with managing drinking. It might not work but is worth a shot.
