Academically rigorous SEN schools in NW Surrey?

Hi all

Inspired by another thread I just read, I wondered if anyone has any experience of SS or units in NW Surrey that are academically rigorous? DS has a SpLD but is academically able (although he's not mega gifted so he can't self teach if needed etc, i would say very average intelligence wise). He's transitioning to jr school (currently MS with support) and I can't seem to work out the path that leads to sitting a full set of GCSEs via SS, although I'm sure it's out there! I'm a bit scared of staying MS due to all the stories I've read on here.

We actually tried Blossom house for preschool but found the teaching very poor and I found it stressful having to teach him the work myself ( For e.g. I know they don't do spelling tests in ks1 which has been brilliant for DS' confidence where he is now).

DS is doing really well at MS but I wish he had peers like him (he's super chatty and outgoing but struggles with getting the "rules" of social communicating- he has an Asd dx and hoping to get an adhd dx soon)

Failing that, are there any SEN friendly MS Private schools you have had a good experience with? I've seen Ewell Castle mentioned for secondary on here

From NW Surrey, some travel to More House or Unsted Park. Both offer boarding if they are too far to travel daily. There’s also Wemms, which is a marmite school. People love it or hate it. None operate exactly like a MS. All offer some GCSEs and A levels, and have pupils go on to university. Depending on where you live, travelling out of area to The Rise in Feltham may be possible.

If you are looking for a unit for secondary, it is worth looking at Hinchley Wood and Salesian’s Cullum centres. Similar to above, DC don’t sit as many GCSEs as in MS, but they do offer some GCSEs. Richard Challoner in Kingston may be doable. It has a specialist resource provision for SEMH and what they call an Enhanced Specialist Teaching Arrangement for ASD.

For independent schools, I know secondary boys with SEN happy at St James and Kingswood House schools.
