On Tuesday next week we are attending ds2's first therapy meeting it is supposed to be to sort out an appropriate nursery place or support in his present nursery. His portage worker ,physio ,ot,nursery manager,st,someone from early years who sits on the panel and his consultant are meant to be attending although i know his st, nursery manager are definatly not going to be there. What happens at these meetings I am beginning to get nervous about this.
We will probably get the results of his bone scan from his consultant at this meeting as well.
Then after the stress of this we have an appointment on Wednesday with a clinical phy no idea what to expect from that either .

Thanks for everbodies support. I spent last night replaying the meeting in my head.Feeling much stronger this morning and it has raised lots of questions about things that were said.
Portage worker said that she feels he has his own agenda what the hell did she mean by that he is 2 years old.
His consultant also metioned his MRI results to start off with she said that it was fine and showed something in his right frontal lobe which could well be the cause of his problems but that it could show up on any ones scan what the hell does that mean.We asssumed when they said his scan was clear that it hadn't shown anything.
I am going to restart our fight and don't intend to let it drop I would never forgive myself if I did.

Sorry, no experience of these meetings (yet!) meea, but just wanted to send you some hugs for next week.

Agree with you entirely about that remark from the Portage worker - what could she possibly have been talking about?!

With regards to the MRI and your consultant. During my short time on the SN road it strikes me that one of the hardest things is getting a straight answer from anyone!

Well shouldn't a two year old's agenda be the one to use for the meeting?

These meetings really annoy me, as they seem to be all about schools, etc, trying to get away with doing as little as possible, rather than looking to see what your child's actual needs are.

I just have this vision of a child in a nappy and little else, sitting there with a clipboard, and an earnest look on their face while they take everyone through their agenda. I must get out more!

Its terrible how many parents are told their child doesn't "need" a statement by a teacher/EP etc. Personally I think anyone with serious worries about their child's development should apply and let the process decide, not some prejudiced professional who has one set of experiences. Even refusal to statement is arrived at by a panel so is worth a go imo.
