Yesterday i decided to bite the bullet and take my ds to the cinema on my own.... he has been loads of times with school but never with me. I didnt tell him where he was going and he was so excited... we went to see the spiderwick chronicles. When we got to the desk to pay the lady asked me if ds was disabled so i said yes and wondered why she then said oh did you know you can get in for free as you are his carer. i said yes and that i had rung up last week and told that i had to fill in the carers form, i had asked then if i could get in this time without the form and the man said no. I explained this to the lady who said that ridiculous i can see that your ds is disabled and im telling you you can go in free today with out the form Ds loved the film and was a good boy, the only time he spoke was to sign and ask if someone was a goody or baddy. it was a normal showing with no subtitles and i thought he did really well

That's great lottie, you must have been well pleased and very proud!

Nice to hear a story about someone helping instead of making life even harder.

Ahh, thats great to hear. Its nice when you have a nice time instead of it being stressful all the time isnt it. I sat my son in a shopping trolley for the first time yesterday (hes 2.6) as up until now his sitting hasnt been that strong and he also would have moaned wanting to get on the floor...but he loved every minute and I t was so nice that it was so...well, easy really

When my ds was small ie 3 and a half four years old i used to sit him in the big disabled trolly which had a seat on the front with straps on... i know what you mean about things being easy,,,,,,, lol it doesnt happen often!!

that is brilliant lj!!! We have never taken dd1 to a usual showing of a film. There are a couple of rotary clubs that do a film day and have complimentary tickets for children with sn and their families - they have a young kids film and usually a teen film. We have been to a couple of those BUT never been brave enough for a film.

Nice to hear about the woman on the counter as well rather than someone who is trying to make life difficult.
