*disclaimer my child has been seen by peads. Has had hearing test, (at time of same back clear) reviewed by ENT and at time of appointment had fluid on one ear however resolved by time of hearing test. Has been seen by speech therapy with very little outcome or much feeedback.
My 29momth old girl is, in my opinion and opinion of professionals l, behind in milestones.
Areas of concern
Twirls hands when excited
Has only pointed on a few occassions.
Few words.
Limited understanding of commands.(which is most concerning for me)
Does not seem interested in communicating with me.
Can feed herself but prefers not to.
Answers to name but often can't be bothered to look. (Or so it appears)
I often feel she does not pay attention to me. Not sure if this is choice personality or something else going on
Areas she has excelled in
Has been walking from 11months
Very active and can climb for days "into everything"
Can mimic unloading dishwasher and load washing machine etc.
Can recite nursery rhymes with actions to some degree, and speech I can understand.
Mimics miss rachel.
Can use some sign languages whilst watching miss rachel, unsure of her understanding of this. Maybe used "more" sign and "eat" sign a handful of times.
Very affectionate
Wicked sense of humour.
Makes attempts at making us laugh
Pretend plays with dollys feeding them etc
Can use shape sorter. However gets frustrated with more complex shapes and just takes lid off and fires in lol.
She knows animal sounds and often sings eh ay eh ay oh when playing with animals.
Can complete her rings on pole
Can count to 10going downstairs
Claps, waves when she feels like it however not often
Had few words used correctly including Joe, no, ready steady go. Up down , in. Open, 1-10 counting. Animal sounds and animals Bye hi, mama dada. eat.
Can repeats words such as shoes. Enjoys reading books
Would not be able to go and get shoes, however has on occasion lifted my shoes to put on and set on my feet.
Knows when I say to go to the bath.
Knows when it's time to go.
To communicate she will bring me cup to fill or bottle for milk.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had a child around this age with same level of understanding/ speech /lack of pointing and had caught up. I'm also wondering if anyone has used any particular methods.
Thanks in advance
