SN children

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Can anyone point me to any website or info for employment issues as a parent of child with SN?

My DS1 is 5 and has GDD. He needs a lot of help with everything, goes to a special school and we get middle rate DLA. He often wakes at night for a couple of hours at a time. I have another DS who is 2, who also wakes most nights. I have applied for direct payments to get some help at weekends because life is always so "full on" as I am sure it is for all of you.

My job has historically involved some shift work but I have managed to avoid doing nights for a few years now. My employers now want me to go back to doing some nights. Not only am I permanently exhausted anyway, I hate the thought of leaving the dc at night, especially as DH is a heavy sleeper.

Any ideas?

Meant to say that DS1 has a history of epilepsy which also has left me anxious in case anything happened in the night and I wasn't there...

if your boss is approachable go and explain.
I would take that as the first line and then see what happens. You do have rights, you need to check with disability alliance what exactly they are

Thanks - have recently got a new boss, who is fully in the picture but not as sympathetic as my previous boss. Will google disability alliance now.
