Hand flapping/gestures & understanding them

Someone (can't remember who) on MN was discussing how her older child (son?) can now explain what the gestures he made as a younger child meant

Does anyone remember this thread? or the discussion

Thanks

I don't think it was a parent posting, I think it was a link to an article by an adult with ASD.

Was it?

Oh I wonder if we are talking about the same thread

Never mind, does anyone remember it?

it does ring a bell, but you can only search on this site if you can remember an (unusual) word that was in the post - hand flapping was in too many, was there any other word that stands out do you remember?

It was a parent on this forum. They were saying that one was related to Sonic the Hedgehog.

Thanks that is fab

I have a little boy who washes/wrings his hands in front of people faces and I wondered if that had been mentioned - but it wasn't

I think it's excitement - but I'm not sure

Never mind, Thanks again

my little boy sort of wafts his hands in front of his face, just out of eye line, but I think he just likes the light or how he catches seeing something just out of the corner of his eye. Could it be something like that, and the other people's faces are just a bit of interesting shape/light rather than anything very relevant? If it bothers people, I guess you could stop it every time he does it - I've done that with a few anti-social things DS does and he eventually gets the message and moves on. Glad Bullet's fab memory found the thread!
