Fun things to do with a non-walking 2 year old?

My 2 year old has a gross motor delay and is not yet walking or even close to it at the moment. I am struggling a bit to come up with fun things to do with her on my days off as so many toddler activities are aimed a kids who are walking. We go swimming and go to the park to feed the ducks but she is not enjoying the playground at the moment and can’t do much apart from swings which she seems bored by. I’m looking for more free or cheap things rather than things like zoos or farms which we sometimes visit at the weekend. Have tried taking her to a cafe for a ‘ ‘babychino’ but she just made a huge mess pouring milk everywhere so it wasn’t very fun for me.

Do you have any SN play groups locally?

Or a music or sensory sessions which even mainstream ones often involve lots of sitting down? Or does DD struggle with sitting too?

Do you have any wheelchair accessible play parks locally? DD may enjoy these more if she can access more of the equipment, even if she doesn’t use a wheelchair.

Not free, but does DD enjoy soft play?

My 2 year old loves going to the library. Sit and read books for 45 mins and then pick out some to take home. Our library also has a small toys sections, with duplo and puzzles and some colouring. They also have a Rhyme time but he doesn’t enjoy that as much so we normally try to go when no-one else is there!

Do you have a beach or a sandy playground nearby? Building sandcastles and digging holes goes down well here. I often take his toy diggers along so they can help as well as a bucket and spade. Play mobile figures also work well in sand.

Lots of museums are free and have a children’s section.

If you have a garden, get a paddling pool? I know the weather is a bit rubbish at the moment but hopefully it will brighten up at some point!

What sort of things does she enjoy doing now? Is she chatting? Messy church type things are usually good, lots of toys on a mat so she could roll about and explore them as well as be around other children.
