Just wondered can anyone else relate? Here's my situation below

I have 2 boys. The oldest is currently in year one at mainstream school and is doing well although due to his autism he is about 18 months/possibly 2 years behind so working at reception level. His school are amazing and currently him and 3 other kids also with similar needs, go to work in a different class room for most of the day and there's 2 adults so he gets plenty of support. They are planning to do this in September too when he goes to year 2

School are supporting him fine now and he is making heaps of progress although he is behind but his progress is still good, he's making changes all the time but he's not the same as other kids in the main classroom. It very much replicates an ELP (mainstream with enhanced learning provision attached)

There has been talk of maybe next May for his annual EHCP review, that depending on progression between now and then, we may as a school and parents together, start looking at Sen provisions

Obviously I know that progress is progress and I am happy and I am proud of him, but it still makes me sad that he's going to year 2 but is behind. What makes it harder to swallow is his 4 year old brother who is due to start school this September, is absolutely a typical child for his age and is so ready and may actually overtake him!

I know I'm being irrational as progress is progress. But equally be nice to hear from anyone who is or has Been in my position and how did the child turn out or if in my position now they can relate to my crazy fears

Thanks
