Carol Grey invented them, she has some books that tell you how to construct them and with examples.

Hi, I’ve made a few social story books for my ASD son (5) to discourage hitting and try to help him with toilet anxiety. I made them myself, with simple coloured in drawings. The advice I had from a SALT was to make the story from his perspective “Sometimes, going to the toilet makes me worried”, the story should feature the ‘problem’ but then give a positive outcome “Now, I’m not so scared of toilets, I know that they are ok!”. He has enjoyed looking at these and I do think they help address issues in a gentle way. They can create discussion points than feel a bit more neural because it’s through the story book and not just directed at them.
