I would like to know any prams people have found that are any good, or if anyone has tried a wagon pram I would like to know what there thoughts where are that too.

I have a autistic 4 yr old he has a mobiquip xl buggy he's very tall won't fit in a normal buggy wear 6-7 clothes and a 2 yr old she big too she in 4-5 clothes, we have been ok with 2 prams till now, but im going to need to have something for both children for long walks and I need to restraint my autistic boy at times. We have tried buggy boards but my girl didn't get on with them and my son is to heavy. I have a carrier but at 15kg it's hard work to carry my girl

You can get double SN buggies/connectors that attach two SN buggies together e.g. Axiom Endeavour, Axiom Phoenix, Excel Elise, Special tomato, Maclaren Major, Activate Tandem for kids, Corgi Sprint Tandem, Kimba Inline.

DD may be too big for it, but you could also look at the Special Tomato buggypod.

Thank you for posting this, I was about to post something very similar, I have a 3 and half year old and was looking at these to make it safer when we are out, she has no sense of danger and will run so fast all of a sudden, she has been out of a buggy for a while but I’m having to do separate school / preschool runs with her and her brother who is adhd and when we go out my partner always needs to be there for 1-1 with them both, I’m just not sure if she is going to have constant meltdowns from a buggy she’s very sensory

At the moment I'm thinking of getting a fuxtec ctxl900 or wonderfold w4 wagon but I'm not sure how they will hold up to meltdowns, and a 4 seater will give me room for shopping or day out bits. But I'm worried about the space needed to get in doors or throught Park gates and I'm wondering if it would fit on a wheelchair Ramp for the trains.

You can but I looked for the one we have and the clamps half the weight allowed in the pram which my son would be get near too, and my girls too heavy and big for a buggy pod they are only suitable for upto 3 and shes in 4-5 clothes

There are some double SN buggies that can fit 2 older DC. There’s even some that go up to older teen/adult size. If DS is approaching 30kg for the buggies using connectors such as Maclaren, special tomato, and Excel Elise, and the Activate for Kids tandem seat weight limits (35kg and 20kg) are too low, the Axiom Endeavour and Axiom Phoenix go up to adult size.

At 15kg like you mention in your OP, DD isn’t too heavy for the buggypod that fits to the special tomato SN buggy. The weight limit for that is 20kg. But I don’t know whether she would be too big.

I don’t think a wagon will stand up to meltdowns like an SN buggy does. If it is relevant to you, I think it would be easier to escape, too.

Someone from my daughters preschool had a wagon picking her children up from school today, my daughter was really interested in it but in reality, the chances of her staying in there is extremely slim, there is also a asd child at her preschool too with a sen buggy, and after my daughter taking forever to get home from many meltdowns and refusing to walk I’ve decided I’m going to have to go down some kind of easier route, the buggy did seem a lot easier compared to the wagon. I looked at the special tomato jogger that seems a good buggy

I wish I knew about these buggies before

BrumToTheRescue · 25/05/2024 15:08

I have just seen your thread about wagons on the Pushchair board. If DS and DD and 18 and 15kg respectively as per your other thread, they aren’t too heavy for any of the double SN buggy options I have mentioned.

Thanks for the advice, I'm still thinking of getting a wagon, my ds may need a pram for a while but my dd won't she can walk a fare distance now and and year or so that should be enough to get her to town and back, and my two don't need to be strapped in they are free to get out and walk they both have road sense the only time I need the straps is when my son has a meltdown and the ones I've looked at cover that

Plus I'm thinking <£300 is a lot more affordable than £600-£1500
