Now I know they don't hae to and it is kinf but why oh why?
they spend 2 hrs with her most week days surely to god the woman can see she loves clothes and buy her a cheap top.

lol at sodding teddy bear. they should get her a decent metal cd shouldn't they

stleger · 03/04/2008 19:53

Did you post this same time last year? I am wondering if there is any point in giving cuddly toys to a jumble sale? Can they be neutered, the rate they breed is something else.

staryeyed · 03/04/2008 20:16

lol stleger. Have much sympathy 2 shoes as we get inappropriate gifts for DS.

Well if you are, then IAUT. (I Am Unreasonable Too). In our case, chuffin' teddies are entirely beyond DD1's understanding. She just doesn't have the social processing to "get" that a soft toy is a "pretend" animal or person. If you stuffed a sock with cotton wool it would be treated identically (ie chewed briefly then discarded). But because no-one knows what to buy her, they all buy her teddies. And apparently (having posted this on another forum and been flamed by NT parents) it is selfish and ungrateful of me to want to send them to the charity shop. Possibly I am supposed to rent some space in Big Yellow for the Teddy Mountain DD1 will have collected by the time she reaches old age.

Would be delighted to donate them to your firing range, 2shoes. Actually, if we could work a way of safe remote detonation, DD1 would probably get something out of blowing them to smithereens.

2shoes · 04/04/2008 15:51

thats it we could organise a fund raiser. and blow the sodding things up

Those NT parents sound awful and should share the fate of the teddies. Are they seriously suggesting that you should be grateful to get a mountain of unwanted stuffed toys My mum used to work in a charity shop and they were 'over teddied' too so a more general cull might be needed.

TotalChaos · 04/04/2008 17:26

r3 - that's awful (both the flaming and the useless pressies). shame people don't have the sense to ask you what your DD would appreciate.

Pixel · 04/04/2008 17:59

That wouldn't work either. People asking what ds likes gets annoying too after a while. I have enough trouble thinking of something for us to get him for pressies without having to take responsibility for everyone else's choices as well. Not that I'm ungrateful that people want to give ds pressies you understand, but how come they never ask dh?

TotalChaos · 04/04/2008 18:01

oh. sorry pixel. hmmm so is the answer if people post on a forum like MN asking for advice about presents then

Pixel · 04/04/2008 19:17

I wish I knew .
No sorry, I was just being picky as it's getting to be a bit of a sore point here. You ask away!

delllie · 04/04/2008 20:07

can totally identify!!, My DD has never been into teddies either but gets loads...., My DD, A little 6 yr old who is the size of a 2 yr old who looks like butter wouldn't melt...She would much prefer the latest WWF wrestling figure or latest Airbourne CD (she is into Rock in a big way at the moment) but people think I am joking.....
Someone bought her a 'Ker Plunk' type game for Xmas, bit mad as she still mouths heavily and there is no way she could play with the game safely...

stleger · 04/04/2008 21:29

My SIL used to run a teddy stall, like a bottle stall, at the school fete. Cuddly toys were recycled around town every June.

2shoes · 04/04/2008 22:04

well shock horror.
dd got her present from the class to day which she opened.
a lovely top from new look.
now they are people who "get" dd

OP posts:
stleger · 04/04/2008 22:12

I hope she has a great birthday, and the top is the right colour.....

stleger ds has got her a high school musical t shirt and the second film. it hurt him to buy it as he is a metal fan

OP posts:
stleger · 05/04/2008 17:50

Your ds is the best! My dd's love HSM, although dd1 pretends she is only watching it because it is on. She can sing the songs, your ds would want to watch that....seriously uncool to hum.

2shoes · 05/04/2008 18:03

he had to watch the first one last week. he wa no impressed
I am so cruel I made him come into claire accesories with me today to get her some jewlery

OP posts:
stleger · 05/04/2008 18:07

I can send ds to lurk in Game if we are going into claires.Has your dd had her ears pierced? (That is nosey and none of my business - but I can see from her collection of tops she is that kind of girl!)

2shoes · 05/04/2008 18:44

no pmsl at the though. she has athetoid cp so it would be cruel. she would scream and there would be no way I could do the twisting and cleaning. shame though as it would have been nice.
ds had his done but went of it and took it out.

OP posts:
2shoes · 05/04/2008 18:45

maent to say. ds so wanted to get her a blink 182 hoody but they are about £40

OP posts:
stleger · 05/04/2008 19:41

I know - my sil (she is 35) has cp -she has enough being done to her on a daily basis, but sadly wouldn't even know what earrings are. Your dd is fashion conscious though, and earrings are an easy present. Better than teddies anyway! Good luck with the teenager...

JamSamBam · 06/04/2008 17:56

i got well and truley bollocked for getting my cousain a chippendales calender and dvd for her 21st...apparently i should have go her a teddy!!!

i often do her nail and play loud "inappropriate" music..who cares! she has a blast!
